Getting to and from Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
Frankfurt Airport is located just 12 km from the city, Germany’s financial hub, where the stock exchange is based and many financial institutions have their head offices. Frankfurt Airport has excellent connections to central Frankfurt and other major cities in Germany, as well as onward travel options by high speed rail links to major European cities.
Getting to Frankfurt Airport by Car
The motorways A3, A67 and A5 all lead directly to the airport. The exits to the airport access roads are clearly signposted and from there motorists merely need to follow the airport icon to reach the airport compound. Once there, both terminals are signposted. The journey from central Frankfurt to the airport takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes during off peak times and between 20 to 30 minutes during rush hour. The A3 and A5 motorways can be joined at the Autobahn intersection called Frankfurter Kreuz.
Motorists are permitted to stop briefly outside the terminals to either pick up or drop off passengers, but this brief parking will attract a fee.
Motorists with a rental car to return should enquire at the time of booking, where their vehicle, keys and documents need to be returned to for the car rental company they have chosen.

Within the airport complex shuttle buses take passengers from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. These buses leave every 10 minutes and are free of charge for passengers with a flight ticket. The airline Lufthansa, Germany’s flag ship carrier, operates its own Airline Shuttle bus service and passengers can travel from Mannheim, Heidelberg and Strasbourg directly to Frankfurt Airport on these convenient long-distance shuttle buses (see www.lufthansa-airportbus.de for further information).
Various hotels within close proximity to Frankfurt Airport also provide their own shuttle bus services, linking the hotel with the terminals on 30 minute intervals throughout the day.
The bus stops at the airport are located in front of Terminal 1 at the Arrivals Level and Terminal 2, Level 2. Terminal 2 also has bus stops for connections on bus line 61 between Frankfurt South train station and the airport, Line 62 serving Schwanheim and the airport and the AIRLiner service that links the city of Darmstadt with Frankfurt Airport.

Getting to Frankfurt Airport by Taxi
Major taxi ranks in the city can be found outside large hotels and main line train stations. There is typically a public telephone with a direct connection to the central reservation desk, where taxis can be ordered in advance, however, there should never be a long waiting time at these major taxi ranks to get a service.
Upon arriving in the airport complex, passengers should tell their driver, which airline they are going to fly with. This will enable the driver to drop off the passenger at the correct departure area and terminal.
