Dusseldorf International Airport Arrivals (DUS)

The airport is located a mere 9 km from the city centre and there are plenty of affordable modes of transport available for passengers who require onward travel.

Arrivals at Düsseldorf Airport can, for example, board one of the frequent metro trains from the airport’s own train station to travel to their final destination in the city.

There are not just metro over-land trains or underground trains that leave from this station – there are even mainline connections that link the airport with the train stations in London and Brussels as well as major cities in Germany. A SkyTrain shuttle takes passengers from the terminals to the airport’s train station and vice versa.

Düsseldorf Airport arrivals are also able to board frequent bus services for destinations within the city and beyond. It takes roughly 15 minutes to reach the city centre. Bus services run at regular intervals throughout the day.

Some buses take passengers to exhibition venues from the airport to places in Düsseldorf, Cologne and Essen, as the State of North Rhine Westphalia is an important hub for international trade fairs and events. Arrivals at Düsseldorf Airport should head for the bus station located in front of the central information area, where frequent bus services into central Düsseldorf and other parts of the country can be boarded.

The taxi rank is located just outside the arrivals area of the terminal. The 15 minutes taxi journey to Düsseldorf’s city centre will cost around EUR 16.00. A taxi trip into the next major city, Essen, will be charged at around EUR 40.00.

Düsseldorf Airport arrivals seeking assistance should head for the information desk on the multi-storey car park’s ground floor. Here assistance for onward travel and overnight accommodation can be obtained. The service desk is manned from 04:00 am to midnight.

Arrivals, who wish to leave their baggage for a period of time, while they are going sightseeing, will be charged per day according to the weight of each item of baggage. The cost for items weighing up to 30 kilograms is EUR 2.50. From 31 kg to 60 kg baggage items are charged at EUR 3.00 per day.

Passengers looking for lost baggage can ask for assistance at the lost property office, which is located on the ground floor of the same building. This office is manned from 04:00 am to midnight.

Arrivals who are looking for hotel accommodation as near to the airport as possible, will find there are several airport hotels in close proximity to Düsseldorf International Airport. The Arabella Sheraton Airport Hotel is located near the P3 parking area. The general telephone number for this hotel is +49 (0) 21141730. The Holiday Inn and Novotel can be contacted via telephone +49 (0) 2113 8480 and +49 (0) 2117 4080 respectively.

The terminals also house two banks and several ATMs in the arrival and departure areas. Snack bars, restaurants, baby changing facilities and toilets are signposted throughout the airport.

Arrivals at Düsseldorf Airport can also hire cars from a number of car hire companies operating out of the airport. Their service desks can help with bookings, if no bookings for car rental were made in advance.
